All Saints' Day
04:26
|
|
||
Well it must have been All Saints' Day they supported the Young Guns
And so I dressed up like a star on the set of the Young Ones
I picked up my coat and floated out the door
And it felt like I wouldn't have to think any more
But I hastened to call you while you were blacking out
Cause you wanted to know what the fuss was about
It's not a question of impulse, but being proactive
And I don't think I've ever made a single exact division
And there's nothing like cruel derision
To upset an exec decision
Still, I know my life
It flows whichever way the water runs
Some incredible beauty passed my way as I crawled to the concert
And we met at the hands as we chanted the tunes till our lungs hurt
I couldn't believe that I'd pulled such a goddess
And if she's not perfection, then I don't know what is
In hindsight I hyped over only one touch
But whatever her name is, I loved her so much
You know I can't really help it who I find attractive
And I don't think I've ever made a single exact division
And there's nothing like cruel derision
To upset an exec decision
Still, I know my life
It flows whichever way the water runs
Do you think I'm in love?
I don't think so
Not today
Do you think I'm in love?
Well, I hope not
Oh, I can't say
Oh, you've got to be kidding, I could see this coming from a mile away
I was lost in your lips, not perceiving I'd taken your smile away
If you wanted a change, why'd you settle for me?
I'm simply afraid this is all I can be
Well, don't stand there shaking, get out of my sight
For all you got wrong, babe, you got one thing right:
I won't stand for misfortune, I just can't accept it
And I don't think that either one of us could have kept it spinning
Or that either of us were winning
Or could bear to have kept on grinning
Still, you know my life
It's nice to see you
Now I've got to run
Got to run (Run)
Got to run (Run)
Got to run (Run)

Peinture
05:30

Break out tonight
And wash away the soil
I couldn't bear it if you hid a thing from me
Fade out to light
And fuck this mortal coil
I can't imagine being parted by the sea
And I will sing for you
The happiest of songs
To help you sleep
And in the distance
All the world is humming by
But we'll keep
Wait, I'm out on the tiles
And I don't feel the same
Could you forgive me if I ever lost my way?
Eighty thousand smiles
And every one of them a flame
That tells us everything we ever need to say
And maybe one day
Like a leaf that's blown away
You'll have to go
So hold me close
That somehow time would stop for us
Or just slow

Runaway Trolley
03:55
|
|
||
My sister thinks your new boyfriend looks fifty
She put it better than I ever could
She thinks the game you play is rather nifty
I guess you call yourself misunderstood
Doo-doo doo-doo doo-doo
Doo-doo doo
And if you wanna go home, you can stay home this time
In your run-down beach house
And I hope you sleep out
And never reach out
We were stuck on a runaway trolley
And it was either gonna kill one of us or five others
So you pulled the brakes down
Man, I hope you stay down
Cyanide can help you raise a devil
It plucks the unibrow from off your face
And you could never really get up to my level
You couldn't even join the human race
Doo-doo doo-doo doo-doo
Doo-doo doo
And if you wanna go home, you can stay home this time
In your run-down beach house
And I hope you sleep out
And never reach out
We were stuck on a runaway trolley
And it was either gonna kill one of us or five others
So you pulled the brakes down
Man, I hope you stay down
When the mark on the ministry man is faded
And the cab for the criminal's armour-plated
When you ask for a mineral and get sedated
It's cessated
Ohhh...
And if you wanna go home, you can stay home this time
And if you wanna go home, you can stay home this time
